Claiborne Breeders' Futurity: The race shaping Derby dreams 🏇

🔎 2025 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity Preview

🏇 | Kentucky Derby Contenders & Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Implications 🔥 Seven 2-year-olds. One ticket to the Kentucky Derby dream. The Grade 1 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland isn’t just another stakes race — it’s where future stars are made. With Derby points on the line and a Breeders’ Cup Juvenile berth up for grabs, this field is loaded with speed, pedigree, and potential. Who’s ready to break out, and who’s just along for the ride?

In this video, I preview all seven contenders ready to take their shot at Derby glory. I break down their chances, running styles, and pedigrees — and show you which of these 2-year-olds has superstar written all over them.

🐎 Meet the Field – 2025 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity

1️⃣ Blackout Time (Kenny McPeek) – A colt who’s already proven he can stretch out. He likes to do his best work up front — but will the jump in class flip the switch or short-circuit his run?

2️⃣ Big Dom (Thomas Amoss) – Heart, hustle, and pedigree. He showed plenty of fight in his debut, but can “Big Dom Energy” carry him the extra distance?

3️⃣ Disciassette (Patrick Biancone) – Patient and poised, this one waits for the right moment to strike. But against this company, he might be swinging a little light.

4️⃣ Spice Runner (Steve Asmussen) – The most experienced runner and already a stakes winner and has Kentucky Derby points. He brings class to the gate — but will it be enough to turn up the heat on stronger rivals?

5️⃣ Litmus Test (Bob Baffert) – Cross-country shipper with a closing kick that can scorch late. The question is whether he’ll pass the ultimate test against deeper talent.

6️⃣ Ted Noffey (Todd Pletcher) – The buzz horse with star potential. Undefeated and explosive, this one could be the headline act on Derby Day — if he proves he’s more than hype.

7️⃣ Ewing (Mark Casse) – Pure early speed and a familiar family story. He’s bred for brilliance and knows only one way to run: catch me if you can.
