• 7/2/26Suburban Stakes 2026: Red, White, and Run
🇺🇸 Can the defending champion repeat in the Suburban Stakes 2026... or will a new star light up Saratoga on the Fourth of July?
The Grade 2 Suburban Stakes features one of the deepest and most competitive fields to start the Saratoga meet. In this preview, I look at all 11 contenders, analyze the race architecture, project the pace scenario, and identify which horses are poised to take advantage on Saturday, July 4th, America’s 250th birthday.
This video for the Suburban Stakes is for educational and entertainment purposes only. Horse racing involves risk. Please wager responsibly and legally, and always do your own handicapping before placing any bets.
Your 2026 Suburban Stakes contenders:
🐎 Classicist is a talented 4-year-old trained by Saratoga powerhouse Todd Pletcher, but he'll need to take a significant step forward as he jumps up in class.
🏆 Forged Steel enters off a dominant 9-length victory in the Hollywood Gold Cup.
🎯 Yo Daddy, trained by Saratoga standout Linda Rice, loves this track and always seems to find his way into the exacta.
🌏 Parchment Party made history as the only American-trained horse ever to compete in the Melbourne Cup.
🌱 Tiztastic competed in the Kentucky Derby before trying turf, only to discover it wasn't his game. Now back on dirt, he pairs with the red-hot Jose Ortiz.
🌍 Phileas Fogg, last year's Suburban Stakes winner, looks to defend his title after being disqualified from the Jockey Club Gold Cup.
📚 Antiquarian seeks redemption after defeating Phileas Fogg in the Jockey Club Gold Cup but finishing behind him in last year's Suburban Stakes.
🌎 Hit Show returns after capturing the 2025 Dubai World Cup, looking to rebound from a troubled trip in his latest start.
🇺🇸 Stars and Stripes, trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott, couldn't have a more fitting name as America celebrates its 250th birthday weekend.
⚔️ Original Sin defeated Hit Show in the Blame Stakes, although Hit Show endured significant trouble that day, making this rematch especially intriguing.
🇧🇷 Obstacle arrives from Brazil after an eye-popping 17-length victory, but can he transfer that form to American racing?
In this preview of the 2026 Suburban Stakes, I discuss:
✅ Race architecture
✅ Expected pace scenario
✅ Every horse's strengths and vulnerabilities

• 9/19/2510 Pennsylvania Derby Horses: 7 Keys to Pick the $1MM Winner! 🏆
2025 Pennsylvania Derby | 7 Historical Angles Reveal the Top Contenders Seven powerful historical angles — drawn from 25 years of Pennsylvania Derby data — hold the key to understanding which 3-year-olds are primed for glory in this $1 million showdown at Parx. I’ve crunched 25 years of data and identified 7 historical angles that have pointed to past winners — and I am using them to separate the pretenders from the contenders in one of the biggest 3-year-old race of the fall.
This 1 1/8-mile dirt showdown on September 20, 2025 has it all: pace players, strong contenders, and a few major question marks. Get ready — I am going horse by horse to help you find your winner!
🐎 Horse-by-Horse Analysis
1️⃣ So Sandy (Cherie DeVaux / Kendrick Carmouche) – Colt with two sharp runs at this distance (1 win, 1 place). Improving form but hasn’t cracked triple-digit speed figures yet. Rail draw may not be ideal for him, and those bumping incidents raise some eyebrows.
2️⃣ Altobelli (James Nicholson Jr. / Angel Castillo) – 15-start veteran with 4 wins (mostly on synthetic). No graded stakes, no proven stamina at 1⅛, no triple-digit speed figs.
3️⃣ Magnitude (Steve Asmussen / Ben Curtis) – The field’s top speed horse from his gate-to-wire Risen Star romp. Missed the Triple Crown trail with an ankle chip but came back blazing in the Iowa Derby. Ran third in the Travers behind Sovereignty. Can he control the pace here? If he does — earthquake incoming?
4️⃣ David of Athens (Brendan Walsh / Tyler Gaffalione) – Lightly raced but talented. Two wins in three starts including a runaway mile score at Ellis. Still developing and has bullet workouts, but lacks graded stakes experience.
5️⃣ Happily Delusional (Louis Linder Jr. / Paco Lopez) – Local Parx horse with one win in 11 starts. No horse with Parx experience has won the PA Derby in 25 years, and his speed figs say he’s up against it.
6️⃣ Goal Oriented (Bob Baffert / Irad Ortiz Jr.) – The “Baffert Factor” is alive. Two wins in four starts and a strong speed fig in the Haskell. Has been bested by Gosger twice — can he turn the tables? Fresh, well-drawn, and dangerous.
7️⃣ Big Truzz (Brian Lynch / Javier Castellano) – Improving colt with a monster Ellis Park Derby win. Needs to prove he can get 1⅛, but pedigree (by Justify) suggests yes.
8️⃣ Baeza (John Shirreffs / Hector Berrios) – The most battle-tested runner here. Hit the board in the Derby, Belmont, and Jim Dandy — all behind Sovereignty and Journalism. Without those two monsters in the gate, he might finally get his Grade 1.
9️⃣ Gosger (Brendan Walsh / Luis Saez) – Always in the exacta and coming off strong seconds in the Preakness and Haskell. Bullet workout on Sept 12.
🔟 Mo Plex (Jeremiah Englehart / Joseph Ramos) – 5 wins from 9 starts is impressive, but low speed figs and a weakening 4th in the Jim Dandy raise concerns. Needs a career-best to win from this outside post.

• 8/2/25G1 Whitney Stakes 2025: 5 Key Angles for All 10 Runners 🐎
🔥 2025 Whitney Stakes Preview: 5 Winning Angles + Full Horse-by-Horse Analysis!
🔥 The 2025 Whitney Stakes is almost here, and it’s not just another Grade 1 — it’s a “Win and You’re In” for the Breeders’ Cup Classic, run at 1 1/8 miles at Saratoga, where only 11 favorites have won in the last 30 years. In this video, I reveal 5 handicapping angles that have consistently helped find Whitney winners — based on deep research from the past 30 runnings. Then, I go horse-by-horse through the 2025 Whitney Stakes field, comparing each contender to the angles and uncovering who fits the profile of a winner.
Here’s the 2025 Whitney Stakes field and what you need to know:
🐴 #1 Mindframe – Trained by Todd Pletcher, a 4-time Whitney winner. This colt has never missed the exacta, but will Pletcher even run him with stablemate Fierceness in the mix? A huge talent, but his status is uncertain.
🐴 #2 Skippylongstocking – A seasoned 6-year-old trained by Saffie Joseph Jr with loads of experience and raw talent, but still seeking his first Grade 1 win. Can his class and toughness finally break through?
🐴 #3 Highland Falls – From the Brad Cox barn, he's only missed the board when shipping out west. Will we see another big effort like his Jockey Club Gold Cup performance?
🐴 #4 Mama’s Gold – Speed, speed, speed. A 1 1/8-mile specialist with pace figures similar to Sierra Leone at this exact distance. Can he wire this field or will the closers reel him in?
🐴 #5 Sierra Leone – The reigning Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and late-running powerhouse from Chad Brown. Will his devastating late kick be enough?
🐴 #6 Disarm – Trained by Steve Asmussen, he comes in off four bullet workouts. But have we already seen his best? Was his peak as a 3-year-old?
🐴 #7 White Abarrio – The 2023 Whitney Stakes winner returns for more. Still in winning form under Saffie Joseph Jr., but can he repeat in this deeper field?
🐴 #8 Contrary Thinking – Another Chad Brown runner, but this one lacks graded stakes experience and has never gone this far. A longshot with upside, or overmatched?
🐴 #9 Fierceness – Pletcher’s other runner and likely favorite. Loves Saratoga, fits every major handicapping angle, and has the raw talent. But remember — only 11 of 30 favorites have won the Whitney. Is he the lock he looks like?
🐴 #10 Post Time – Trained by Brittany Russell, this ultra-consistent horse has 11 wins and keeps proving doubters wrong. Can he take the next step at the Grade 1 level? 🔍 This 2025 Whitney Stakes preview breaks it all down — with data-backed angles, sharp analysis, and a look ahead to the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

The 2025 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga Race Course is set to be an epic showdown—and I am analyzing every contender in this Grade 2 prep for the Travers Stakes. Only five horses, but all five bring serious heat to this 1 1/8-mile test! In this video, I start by giving you 4 handicapping angles to help you assess the field. Then, we go horse-by-horse to examine how each contender matches up through these lenses. Past performances, speed, running styles—you’ll get it all here. 🏇
The Field:
➡️ #1 BAEZA – Third in the Kentucky Derby AND Belmont Stakes, this colt might have a big edge being forwardly placed in a small field. The only two horses to beat him in graded stakes? Sovereignty and Journalism—arguably the top 3-year-olds in the country. Is this his time to shine?
➡️ #2 SANDMAN – The fans love him, and he’s adding blinkers for the first time. A strong third in the Preakness Stakes behind Journalism and Gosger. Can blinkers help him stay closer early and finish with a punch?
➡️ #3 MO PLEX – Winner of the Ohio Derby, this speedy front-runner will try the “catch me if you can” strategy. Will Saratoga let him sneak away?
➡️ #4 HILL ROAD – With Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard, he has a major Saratoga jockey, but does his deep-closing style work in this compact, tactical field?
➡️ #5 SOVEREIGNTY – The reigning king. Kentucky Derby winner. Belmont Stakes winner. Unmatched late kick. But can he run them down again? Whether you're following the Road to the Travers or just love top-level 3-year-old horse racing, this is the preview you need.
